Bradford City AFC & The Curious Case of Peter Jackson
So after 18 games & 6 months in charge, Peter Jackson has resigned as manager of Bradford City Association Football Club. His spell wasn't the best of a City manager, yet it wasn't the worst either! But the big question is was he pushed or was he jumped? There's two sides to every story (Except Harry Potter) so here's the two sides in 2 minutes!
Peter Jackson Jumped:
- Mark Lawn said he resigned.
- We haven't heard anything from the true City gent himself.
- Apparently Peter Jackson said that he didn't want to leave the club in the same mess Taylor did for him.
- One Draw & Four Defeats from the opening five games of the season.
- Park Bantam said so on the Bradford City official message board.
Peter Jackson Pushed:
- Apparently he didn't see eye to eye with Archie Christie
- Bantams Banter have reported Jackson was visibly upset by leaving.
- Mark Lawn hasn't had much to say on the matter other than he resigned.
- Michael Flynn has said that Jacko was looking forward to Saturday in training.
- Skybet have suspended betting after less than 24 hours with Phil Parkinson as favourite.
As I write this blog some interesting developments have come out into the public regarding Bookmakers suspending betting. Phil Parkinson was favourite with ALL bookmakers at 4/5 & after less than 24 hours of betting, people who bet on Parkinson are being paid out. And Sky Sports News are reporting that he his in the frame for the job! So was Parkinson appointed before yesterday & was Jacko pushed or are Lawn & Rhodes extremely fast in moving on! It wouldn't suprise me if either were the true story, but there is something Christie, sorry Fishy going on here!
Mark Lawn has announced a three man shortlist of one employed (John Still, Dagenham & Redbridge) & two un-employed (Phil Parkinson & believed to be Dean Windass) However, this afternoon's developments mean Parkinson looks like he will be the next manager of this club.
Phil Parkinson other than a promotions with Colchester, failed miserably with Hull & Charlton. The fans will never see eye to eye as we're a opinionated bunch here in West Yorkshire. But for those wondering who is Phil Parkinson? Here is his factfile!
1967 - Born in Chorley.
1985- Signed first Professional Contract with Southampton.
1988 - Moves to & Makes Professional debut for Bury.
1992 - Moves to Reading from Bury.
May 2003- Retires from Playing.
June 2003 - Takes over the Managers post at Colchester United.
2005/06 - Manages Colchester United to League One Promotion.
June 2006- Leaves Colchester United for Hull City.
December 2006 - Leaves Hull City by Mutual Consent.
January 2007 - Agrees to join Charlton Athletic as Assistant Manager to Alan Pardew.
April 2007 - Turns down Huddersfield Town to remain Assistant Manager at Charlton Athletic.
November 2008 - Becomes Caretaker Manager of Charlton Athletic.
December 2008 - Appointed Permanent Manager of Charlton Athletic.
May 2009 - Relegated to Coca Cola League One with Charlton Athletic.
2009/10 - Loses to Swindon Town in League One Play Off Semi Finals.
January 2011 - Sacked as Manager of Charlton Athletic.
Anyways, back to Peter Jackson. He stunned everybody associated with Bradford City when he walked (or pushed) from his dream job as our manager. Whether he succeeded or failed as our manager, Peter Jackson will forever be a legend at this club, as a born & bred Bradford lad & captain of the 1984/85 promotion team, which ended in the tragic fire disaster which took the lives of 54 Bradford & 2 Lincoln fans. He then led the team round funerals, hospitals & memorials to those who lost their lives in the tragic fire. Peter, you're a true City Gent & legend of this club & I wish you all the best in the future. In Jackson I trust!
Lets see how Parkinson does...
